Am I crazy for wanting a 2015 Chevrolet SS?

Not bad, but does it have the manual gearbox ? What did you pay for it ? I hope it will be a little less down in NC later. Personally I do not want a white car. Had one once and it is almost as bad as a black car to keep clean. How about some shots of the interior and dash area ? I heard there is not a lot of room between the 2 front seats and for some that may be an issue.

It's a manual transmission heron white 2015 with a sunroof. The exact configuration I was looking for. It was only 30 miles away.

The out the door price was $48K. That includes GM supplier pricing and a $750 USAA member discount.

I'll take some interior shots later. The interior is fantastic.

Not bad, I have to see it in person. And no way are 2 cups fitting in those cup holders. They should be offset if you intend to use both at the same time. Would also need to see exactly what is being controlled with that big display panel. What is the shift pattern for that manual gearbox and is it a 6 speed or the newest 7 speed that can be had in the Corvette ? .. FYI: Some GTO's had trouble with the clutch pedal linkage breaking off in the car, by the firewall, due to use of Plastic Parts between the pedal and the Master Cylinder. Those should be metal and I hope the aftermarket, like American Powertrain come up with metal replacements for it.

I drove the automatic, pretty fun car. My only complaint is the amount of excess chrome they put on it.

Had a baseline dyno yesterday. 370hp / 370tq. I have SW headers w/ X-pipe and a Roto-Fab coming in.

After that, it's on to the cam and heads. Then after that...

While the e39 is a great car, I'd rather have the SS than an e39 m5 with 15k in mods. Nothing against the e39, but I wouldn't consider it a much nicer car.

Found sites that tell of the GM gear pattern ...seems it easy to use, with 1st up and left, then just down, over and up, etc. .. with reverse being far right and up.

It's just like the GTO. The shift knob is even the same. The only difference is the metal on the SS shifter is polished rather than satin on the GTO. The SS has much shorter throws.

One of the local dealers have a couple on their lot, and I was actually pretty attracted to the Mystic Green color. I found it interesting that there are three different green colors available on the SS.

I was checking the SS out at a local dealer, and I found it interesting that it is offered in three different shades of green. I kinda like that lighter green color, but they didn't have one to see in the flesh.

Nice car AdamK47! I'd be interested to hear your thoughts after having it for a bit. I would seriously consider getting one of these for my next car.

I need to see it in person, but they listed a very nice shade of blue at the chevrolet.com web site. If I decide to buy one, that would be the color (unless I see the green versions on the lot and they just jump out at me)

Adam, Does it come with Navigation and XM ? Do they have a trial sub or lifetime ? And what about updates to the Nav Maps (in cars they can be costly) ? .. I know the car has a HUD, what is shown on it ? Does it show RPM or Engine parameters as well as Speed, Turn Signal and hopefully map directions ?

Yes, it has navigation and SiriusXM (3 months free). It also has 4G and WiFi. I haven't played around with it too much, but I'm pretty sure the navigation updates simply through an internet connection. You can also use the internet connection to download all sorts of apps to it.

The HUD has a few different modes. Speed, Tachometer + Speed, Lateral G-Force + Speed, and I think there is another one a can't remember at the moment. All modes show the crash avoidance detection. It also shows turn signaling.

This is what I found through a quick search:

4G LTE connectivity is coming to these Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac models by the end of 2014. Pricing starts at $5 per month for 200MB of 4G LTE for OnStar subscribers. New car owners with OnStar 4G LTE hardware get a free trial of 4G LTE service for three months or 3GB of data use, whichever comes first.

I still need to activate my free trial on OnStar.

You pay for map updates. If you don't have a DVD player, then you have to go to the dealership to get the updates loaded, otherwise it comes on disk. Typically around $200 for an update from past experience.

The 4G LTE is purely a hotspot and not integrated into the ChevyLink. If you have ATT you can add the service to your shared plan, otherwise you pay for chunks of data. Tried it out, but has little value in a 2 seater. Maybe a family sedan or SUV would be a better place.
