Ok thanks to the help of the people on these forums I think I finally have the system that suites me although a few questions have been raise between a friend of mine and myself.

This the system Im getting. Im well aware that the ram isnt the greatest but I'm on a bit of a strict budget. I only wanted to spend $650 at first but now its all gonna cost me $703.65 after shipping :(

The System

I was chatting with my buddy online and he said I should get the 800pro and use the money I saved to get better ram and overclock it. My argument is that I'd rather have those extra piplines on the XL now than the performance ram now. I could always get the ram later and it would be cheaper than buying the XL when the time came.

He told me I'd be somewhat bottlenecking my XL. Anyone agree?

And no, a 3000+ will be able to drive that no problem.. If you overclock, it just racks the frames up higher :p

Def get the x800XL. That 3000 A64 @ stock might cramp its style a little bit but the card certinaly won't be starved. A 9800 pro would perform like a dog compared to the XL. A Venice 3000+ should be able ot OC very nicely anyways.

I guess it's possible, but I had an Athlon XP @ 2.3-2.4 that drove a 6800GT just fine..

Looks like I'm gonna stick with the 800XL. Great feedback everyone, I love this site. I've saved quite bit of money by asking around here. :)

No, get the better gfx card. For too many obvious reasons, more expensive ram is not the way to go.
