I picked up a laptop for my business trip to Hong Kong. Price was good for what I got - a Sony VGN-NR220E. It's no way a top of the line laptop but I liked the look and specs considering the price.
But I have an issue with heat. I haven't really used the laptop as much but I'm getting a lot of heat build up around the vent and it gets a little warm around the touchpad area. While I can understand that a laptop can run hot, it seems like it's running hotter than it should. I'm comparing to a Dell laptop I have around that I barely use that's about 5 years old which really doesn't get anything more than just a little warm.

I also took some temp measurements...
CPU - 62 C
Core 1 - 59 C
Core 2 - 58 C
HDD - 40C
Took a thermometer to the vent area and got around 45C
It's a Core Duo laptop. Not sure if this runs hotter than Core 2 Duos though I read somewhere that the Core 2 Duos actually run a little hotter
