Am I basically stuck getting an iphone 6s?

The home button on my iphone 6 no longer works. It clicks normally, feels well secured, isn't mushy, and I've checked the connections inside the phone and they are plugged in and appear to be in decent shape. Using it is now a major PITA so I am considering a different phone. Unfortunately, ease of use/usability of phones has decreased across the board in an effort to make it them more "modern". Because annoying to use means modern, apparently. iPhone X does not have touchID so that one is immediately out. iphone 7 and 8 do not have a 3.5mm headphone jack so those are out. Most android flagships I am seeing have a touchid on the back of the phone so all of those are out. Some do not even have a touchid so those are out too, along with the ones that are ridiculously size (phablets). Am I really stuck purchasing a used iphone 6s 128gb?
 
128GB option for iPhone SE is $450. Hardware-wise, the SE is similar to the 6S except it does not have: 3D Touch, the faster TouchID that you get on the 6S and 6S Plus, and its barometer.

If TouchID is that important to you, the SE could actually be a downgrade to your current 6S.
 
Yeah I just did some quick research and was abou to post that. The 6s is a better deal especially since there seem to be plenty used 128gb versions around.
 
apples 3.5mm adapter is is small and works well. Just buy a few and put on all your wired headphones. Then buy an iphone 8 instead of a 2.5 year old model.
One adapter is included.
 
I had a home button break on my iPhone 5, Apple wanted $150 for repairs... I ended up driving 3 hours to an Apple store and got a free replacement. But if that is not an option, I would just accept the fact that an adapter is in your future with the iPhone 8.

I did recently get a Samsung Level U Pro for $40 and I love it. I am now a believer in wireless headphones.
 
I got an IPhone X, 64 GB for $450 (Walmart - deal over).

Face recognition is just as east a touch ID, You have to look at the phone either way.
There's a 3.5mm to lightning dongle included in the box.
The included earbuds are very good..The bluetooth earbuds are extra ($200).

What are you talking about? Actually take that as a rhetorical question as I'm tired of getting in bizarre arguments with people on a tech forum, where it just ends up being them technophobic and acting like minor change (like placement of a fingerprint sensor, which by the way the back sensors are actually more convenient for a lot of people, including people who swore they were the dumbest thing ever until they used them) is some horrible injustice that has ruined computers for them.

Best advice: take your iPhone 6 and go to an Apple Store (or call Apple up) and request a cheap battery replacement (since that is almost certainly actually messing with your usability). And ask if they can at the same time fix your TouchID sensor. I'm willing to guess it'll be reasonably cheap and you very likely will end up with a phone that performs better as well.

Or buy a different phone, because the iPhone 6 was already a mediocre phone due to the limited RAM. Which is something that will absolutely affect the usability too. I wouldn't recommend the SE either unless you can get a good condition one for cheap as it has similar issues (supposedly a bit less than the 6 though).

Heck, just glue or put some heatshrink around at the 3.5mm connection with the headphone cable and it'll be practically impossible to lose, but if you really need to plug into a 3.5mm jack you still would be able to. There's probably even adapters with a locking coupler even. Plus there's lots of headphones that now come with cables terminated in the Lightning connector, and those would probably have the bonus of being able to plug into a USB socket and function like a DAC (giving a higher quality headphone out of most computers).

This is a terrible solution. I often listen to music and/or use my phone as navigation while driving which drains the battery quickly so I need to be able to plug in a 3.5mm cord into the headphone jack AND plug in the lightning connector to recharge my phone at the same time. And no, buying a(n) (overpriced) splitter is not a good solution.

1. I already have a new battery.
2. I agree. That is why I would step up to a 6s and not replace it with a 6.

Touch ID on the back makes a lot more sense for common usage patterns of the phone, like picking it up or taking it out of your pocket
 
Have you looked at a Galaxy S7?. I think that fits all of your criteria, and it's newer than the 6S. It has a fingerprint sensor on the front, it has a headphone jack, it's not a phablet, and it takes an SD card for as much storage as you want.

The iPhone X has non contact charging. So yes, you can charge while using the lightning port and/or the included 3.5mm dongle..

Unfortunately putting the phone on a charging pad will not work for me.
 
A few of my relatives own battery cases for their iPhones. I hate the concept, but it does greatly increase their battery life to the point where charging once a day is possible.
