Am I Asking Too Much for My Car?

Pretty sweet ride! I saw your post a while ago and tried to convince my friend to take a look at your post but she's a bit ignorant about cars. She ended up getting a brand new 2006 Toyota Camry.

Remember the KBB range is Private Party Value not Retail or Trade In.

I want to sell it for $16,250 but listed it at $16,450 for a little wiggle room.

I'll say the same thing that I said in your last thread asking the same question:

There is too small of a price difference between new and used. There is no siginificant incentive to buy used. Especially now that inventories have caught up to demand. Plus when you factor in college grad discounts and financing incentives from time to time the incentive to buy used drops even more.

Well, I refuse to go down to $15K with it. I may have it taken to CarMax to see what they offer but I bet it would be even less than that.

So be it I guess.

High wholesale on the car is 15.1, you're not going to get any interest still being in retail money territory.

Where do you get your numbers from?

You listed the Edmunds TMV for a new car and KBB private party - what's Edmunds private party value? KBB's values are too high. I bought a used car (6 months old, previous model year) and it said it was worth $1500 more than a NEW car of the same model.

Seeing your comparison to a new one, which costs only $2500 more and I only lose the HIDs, I'd buy the new one.

You've had that page up for a while now... if you've listed it anywhere and it hasn't sold, your price is probably too high.

Price too high. Don't buy a new car unless you plan to keep it for at least a few years.

Okay, it's too high. What is an appropriate asking price? $15K flat?

I edited that home page again to reflect a current asking price of $16,250.

I didn't know when I bought it that I was going to transferred to a city where owning a car is not necessary. (Washington DC)

I live in DC. I use the metro/bike/feet/bus. Everything I need to accessible by these means.

If the car were here, it would go unused. But I'd still pay for expensive gas every so often and still pay the insurance.

Personally if cost isn't an issue I would hold on to the car. Something about being reliant on public transportation just doesn't appeal to me.

Afraid that is life for thousands in this city...not to mention NYC.

I'm thinking $15,750 is the lowest I will go at the moment.

I did have several test drives at $17,250 and one serious taker who backed out...supposedly after nearly being fired from her job the same week she took a look at it.

Like I said, I was getting calls/test drives at $17,250. But no sale.
