I have a running balance, which is the money in my account, and a ledger balance. The running balance is basically what I have left over if all the transactions I have made go through and the ledger balance is the money left over with unfinished charges.

So I checked my account about 30 minutes ago, the ledger balance it said I had $76.xx, I placed an order of $72 through amazon.com a couple minutes later, I recheck my account 5 minutes after placing the order, and now it says I only have $46 in my ledger balance... am I going to get a $72 charge on my $46? Or is it a $72 charge on the $76 I had earlier, but this is some weird temporary charge?

Did amazon.com do a temporary charge, or is some bill I paid earlier coming to bite me in the ass? Usually the charge goes through right away on the ledger balance, and only later when its finishes, gets on the running balance. The webpage doesn't let me view what was charged on the ledger balance only complete transactions.

Should I cancel my order or deposit some money tomorrow morning? Or is this nothing to worry about? I usually don't run my account this low, but I havn't gotten paid this week, and I had to withdraw alot of money for car insurance. So, please, don't mention how much I should be spending, and running my account low and blah blah.

Thanks.

EDIT: Meanwhile, the Running balance doesn't change until the charges go through, so its still at $96 now.

you can't check your statement to see where the money disappeared to? did you already get confirmation from amazon that your order was processed and completed?

Amazon.com has sent me no email yet, and even if it was amazon.com's, its not the right amount. I don't know what I suddenly spent $30 on. I remember buying about $10 worth of food earlier for my buddy and myself, but that should have already been on the ledger account before I even submitted the order.

Sorry, the total order was $62, not $72, but that'll still count as an overdraw.

Maybe I figured it out?

I'm checking out the amazon.com order I had just placed. I placed it for two items, the Dilbert DVD set for my Father for Father's Day, and a pair of Mechanix Gloves for my brother's birthday. The Dilbert DVD was $40, and the Gloves were $21. I thought it would be combined as one order, but apparently amazon.com split it into two shipments. I'm not sure if they're just going through another reseller or what, but they're shipping out at different times. I can assume that the $21 glove charge was is already being processed by amazon's reseller, while the $40 DVD from Amazon.com hasn't been processed yet. So we can assume since its different shipments and different sellers, they are also charging at different times.

Eh, sound about right?
