Am I a loser for having perfect attendance my senior year?

after seeing Supercharged's thread about worrying about going to school just for one day. It made me reflect on my senior year of high school. I never missed a day the entire year and had a full schedule of classes from 7:30 till 3:15 everyday while my fellow students went home at noon.

(1) If you were sick and went anyways to get some mention of your name at a school award banquet, then yes. Why do these people make everyone else sick for 5 seconds of "fame"?

(2) If not, then no you aren't a loser.

Why were you there later than your fellow students? special ed? 😛

Not really, but realize that at somepoint in your life you will have to loosen up and let sh!t slide otherwise your life will be that way....which is not a bad thing.

no in some schools it doesnt matter, you still need to pass your classes. Kids in Stuyvesant and Townsend harris and such still go to all their classes in senior year

One of my graduating (high school class of '03) classmates had a perfect attendance throughout FOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS! Of course, she won the award and the students in audience were booing at her.

Come on. Everyone skips on SENIOR SKIP DAY (too bad many of those who skip on that day end up getting arrested) 🙂

Not a loser. U just did not have a life.

Sh!t the cops were partying with me.😀

I went to school every day my senior year. Among the entire class, only a girl and I had perfect attendance. The ironic thing was neither of us cared enough to go to the award banquet for seniors (big waste of time since they give out the awards the next day, its more just to recognize people), so no one came up to collect the perfect attendance awards. 😀

I went for only a single monday in my senior year of high school. On that monday my hardass teacher had an important test (it was the one monday that actually was senior skip day and she knew it) but I left early. I also missed a pretty decent number of Fridays. Officially my total absences were 42. That is nearly an entire 9 weeks of classes. The best part is that my friend in the attendance office marked me as present before running the attendance scantron, and then would erase it afterwards so that the teacher couldnt ever tell. In reality I likely had ~60 absences. A&B honor roll woohoo! Even now in college I will miss a good amount of days but still keep my grades up. I sometimes wonder if I would gain super powers if I applied myself but then I realise that I work better in laid back conditions.

Cliff notes: resposibility is like kryptonite to me.

EDIT: Did I mention I am going to be a teacher next year!? 😀

Great for you ! This will help you down the road more than you realize now.

Keep up the good work for yourself.

yes. how could you not cut school, at least once in your life, especially during senior year? or at least con your parents into giving you a sick day so you can lounge around the house eating junk food and watching day time tv? it's not like colleges are going to be looking at your attendance record.

U will realize that the ppl in HS right now, u will never see them again in the real world. Who cares if u have perfect attendance? Having perfect attendance in the career world means a whole lot.

No you're not a loser by my standards, but everything is viewed in relativity.

I don't have perfect, but nearly perfect. A lot of the top students (marks-wise) in my school miss a lot of school due to outside actitivies such as music, sports, and other things, and often we don't get excused for it. Also two years ago, the student with the highest average (97%) really liked skipping classes, especially Calculus, where there is no final exam.

I missed maybe 8 or 9 days a year but I also was pretty good at getting out of classes would often spend at least 1 extra hour a day kicking back in the video lab playing quake with some other classmates who weren't supposed to be thier either.

but alas I'm also one of those people who work best as a slacker but for some reason no one ever catches on to me being such a slacker. I mean now at work I do maybe 2hrs of real work a day, yet my boss still talks to me how another coworker of mine never has his work done on time and this coworker works pretty hard 😀 I love my life. my work life can be summed up by a simpsons episode..the one with Frank Grimes, and I' homer
