Wow. For 'weighing in', that post has only the lack of weight of a lie, lighter than air.

And it's hardly a hatefest, just a few of the usual suspects drooling.

It didn't prevent some helpful comments to the OP.

If your goal was to make the droolers look good in comparison, congrats.

That's the most offensive and most wrong comment in a thread of offensive and wrong comments. That's quite unlike you, but you sure made up for lost time in a sentence.

If you hate America, dont care about children or families, or think you are better then normal people, you may be a Democrat.

If you look forward to a brighter future, Love America, or believe in helping your neighbors and friends, you may be a Republican.

If you are confused and dont know what you believe you may be an Independent.

Are you my twin?

I'd say I'm a Librarian on paper, but since they don't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning an election, I'm registered independent and vote for the person that meets the most of my values on a given election and try to filter out the BS hot topic button issues that get pushed down everyones throat around election time just to cause people to pick sides.

Things like abortion for example, who gives a shit what someone running says about it? It's not going to get changed.

Gay Marriage, moot also, as up to this point both sides have always said they're against changing the laws on it.

Etc..

So if you allow yourself to filter out all that garbage that has no real meaning and then look at the things they're saying that do usually get changed when a new president gets elected, that'd be a good place to start.

IMO of course.

If you bow to foreign kings.. you might be a democrat. If you run up a 1.8 trillion dollar deficit and call Bush's spending irresponsible.. you might be a democrat. If you are more upset by the torture of 3 terrorists than you are the death of 3000 Americans, you might be a democrat..

Anyone who brands themselves as a Democrat or a Republican are sheep and should be laughed at with prejudice. Be thankful you have issues branding yourself, as it means you have a mind that can think logically.

what else will help determine which party i side with?

Answer one question because you're on the fence: Do you think gay people are the devil? If so, welcome to the GOP.

really falls under indifferent.

from a personal/religious pov, i'm against it. marriage is for a man/woman, necessary to reproduce.
but politically, if 2 gays wanna get hitched, i won't stop them.

Again, look at how the left (Phokus, their best troll) phrases things. He (not so subtly) implies that the entire Republican party is running around saying these things about people.

Yeah it's not like republicans use gay people as a political wedge to get votes from bigots or anything. Oh wait, they do.

If you loathe the fact that you are not as well off as your neighbor, and wish the government would raid his bank account and give some of it to you, you are more than likely a democrat.

It sounds like you're conservative.

Which is not necessarily a Republican trait as I find that the party leaders have long since betrayed conservative values. Broaden your horizons beyond black and white, beyond right and wrong, beyond Republican and Democrat.

Biggest mistake you could make is to blindly follow a political party.

i don't follow politics.
i do not vote based on candidate party affiliations, but rather their history, merits and (perceived) integrity.

Who did you vote for in the presidential election?

If you spout that sort of nonsense, you are likely a right-winger. I guess Warren Buffet is jealous of his neighbors, eh, ocguy. You're just clueless about liberals. And non-liberals.

Why are people so obsessed with partisanship and classification? Are you that desperate to join a political team/ideology.

I can promise you if you get caught up in that crap you will be compromising your values to adhere to the ideology and thinking less and less for yourself while becoming someone whose actions are reactionary to the latest FUD.

Just look at this board if you need any proof.

I was an independant resistant to any party along the lines you describe for a long time.

When you reach a point that your views align far more closely with one party than the other, and the other parties are disastrous, you can choose to support a party.

You may also realize how terribly close-minded and ignorant many self-described 'moderates' and 'independants' are (not aimed at you).

'Compromosing your values' - not necessarily. You might be helping them more.
