I've been playing in an adult recreational soccer league (full field/45 min halves) for a few months. My primary form of exercise is training for strength/powerlifting, but I enjoy soccer and grew up playing the sport. I have a game today. It's over 100 degrees outside. I haven't played soccer in 100 degree heat in a decade (I'm 25). I also have gained 60 pounds since I was 15.

A quick poll of a few friends lead to the general consensus that I'd be stupid to go. Our team is currently ranked second in our division. We're playing the top ranked team. So far, they have scored 43 goals this season (we've scored 23).

Going and getting our asses kicked (almost certainly) for 90 minutes in 100 degree heat sounds about as fun as getting kicked in the balls to me right now.

OC? I live in Oregon. We don't get these kind of temperatures very often.

I voted no because there is a dry lightning warning for eastern and southeastern oregon.

Soccerballs are a primary magnet for the halus.

Wussing out on soccer is akin to wussing out on knitting.

If the heat gets too bad, just lay down on the ground for a little rest. Just make sure you whine and grab your leg to try to draw the foul.

Your team is counting on you & they'll be playing in the same conditions you will ... you are 100% pansy-a$$ bitch if you fail to show up.

Why not show up with the attitude that you are going to win and beat the crap out of the other team. Stats be danmed.

ohh Thank god every one agrees.

I played for my team when I was on therapy for my back and shoulder for 4 months , and never bitched about it. In fact, I am still in therapy and I lost some motion on my shoulder. I haven't hit a serve in 8 months (tennis that is).
