Am getting screwed by Newegg and I can't do anything about it

I purchased a brand new DFI Lanparty UT nforce3 250gb mobo on 10/11/2004 from newegg.

I received the mobo on the 13th.

It was operational on the 28th of October once I received all the parts.

My mobo stopped working on the 5th of November, so I set up an RMA through newegg's online service and sent it priority. I asked for a replacement and gave them the reasons for it not working and what I tried doing.

They received it on the 8th of November.

On the 12th, I received a message, that it has gone to inspections department.

I called them up and newegg tells me that the serial number is different. I tell them its not possible because that's the only DFI nf3 mobo I got from newegg.

So they told me to check back again on Monday.

I called on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and newegg is telling me the same thing that serial number is different and I have contested many times that it can't be different becuase I didn't send them a different board.

Its the only board I got from them and returned exactly the same one as I received.

Upon telling newegg that, the customer rep insisted that as my previous inovices suggest that I bought a chaintech vnf3 moboa and asus k8n-e deluxe and I might have send them one of these.

Now , how stupid can you get.

Those mobos have totally different numbers and they don't even look anywhere close to being DFI Lanparty UT.

So at this stage, newegg isn't replacing my mobo and are not giving me any kind of refund.

What am I suppose to do now.

:(

Keep on bitching, and ask to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about!

I asked for reps to talk to and they all sound like a broken record. They keep insisting that wrong serial number.

give me a fvcking break, newegg could make an error on their part while entering in their database what they have supposedly sent out to me and what exactly I got. :|

I believe newegg honors 30 day warranty on all parts.

I'll check what's DFI's RMA policy if I can get a link to it.

I'm not sure how long you have to file a dispute with your credit card company, I'd suggest calling them as well if newegg's not taking care of you.

dfi warranty may be an option. I've returned things to newegg (wrong frequency chips, different from adverts) and they have been great. You have to realize that once the goon working in the testing lab puts on your account that you returned something with a different searial number, everyone in customer service knows nothign about that. All customer service knows is that their computer says you had the wrong serial #, so thats what they tell you

yes, i got my invoice emailed when they shipped the mobo.

It has the serial number listed in the invoice.

I personally never checked the serial number on the box or the mobo, because I hardly do so.

But I didn't know that my replacement demand would be turned down just because of conflicting serial #s that I don't know how is that possible. :(

Probably to stop asshats from breaking their board, buying a new one, and then sending the old, broken one back to them asking for a replacement or refund.

I would call them up and continue to bitch at them about it, if needbe, ask to speak to supervisors.

Ok, so the invoice they emailed you doesn't match the serial number on the board you got? That's crazy. I hope it works out for you.

Just call your credit card issuer and start a chargeback. Be ready to provide proof of delivery of your return. That's all they need to settle your case.

Exactly. That's why you always pay by credit card. Tell Newegg that if they don't fix it immediately you will dispute the charge and take your business elsewhere.

Ok....

Called Newegg today and they said the RMA is approved.

Their inspections dept. had entered the wrong serial # by one digit.

So hopefully, I'll get my new mobo next week.

That's pretty crappy customer service on their part. They should've asked the asshat who checked entered in your serial # in the first place, especially if it was off by only 1 digit

Talk about a hassle heh.
