The new study documents a dramatic and unprecedented therapeutic effect in an Alzheimer?s patient: improvement within minutes following delivery of perispinal etanercept, which is etanercept given by injection in the spine. Etanercept (trade name Enbrel) binds and inactivates excess TNF. Etanercept is FDA approved to treat a number of immune-mediated disorders and is used off label in the study.

They forgot to mention how TeAm 198's F@H work has led to such remarkable advances! I think we folded that protein they experimented with during the last race. :p

the maker of enbrel better not tell any doctors about this or they'll be fined by the FDA.

Usually you see some disclaimers or more info on trials. I wonder why this isn't front page
news and more hyped considering the impact Alzheimers has on our population. Good news, hopefully this can lead a way to fight this horrible condition.

wtf is wrong with the news industry in this country when the only place I see this is on ATOT? Are Britny, Lilo, and Brangelina really more important? :(

No shit...the medias priorities are so skewed. And on top of that, if its not celebrity news, its "guy threw 4 kids off a bridge", "man eats girlfriend."

This is great news for anyone with a family member suffering from Alzheimer's. I wonder if there's any way for the general public to receive this treatment.

Only when the pharmaceutical industry can charge $500 a pill for it. Then the FDA will approve it.

My girlfriend's grandfather is in the mid to late stages. I'm sure his family would pay just about any price.
