Always get Internet Explorer Problem at "MSN Games by Zone.com"

:( I can't play any On-line games at MSN Games by Zone.com. As soon as the Talking Ads commence, I get a window "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Then the load continues for another 5-10 seconds, and my browser closes down (I have not tried to Send or Don't Send "Error report" - the browser just gets shut down). Windows XP Pro has been reloaded after formatting hard drive. Norton Systemworks & Personal Firewall have been disabled. Several other programs WERE installed, but have been removed in effort to find out what causes the problem (Ad-Aware, CCleaner, Spybot S & D, Spyware Blaster,Spyware Doctor, Java). Add-on programs still running are Download Accelerator, Adobe Reader 6.0,ScreenPrint32, Window Washer, and WinZip. XP Pro has 19 necessary updates, but cannot get SP-1 or SP-2.

I'd sure appreciate suggestions of what/where/how to fix this. I enjoy a few of the games (Text-Twist, Bespelled, Bejeweled 2), but can't get them anymore. TIA

...AND you're running around with your firewall and antivirus turned off? Why are you unable to get SP2, is your computer refusing to go to Windows Update?

Let me say this in a different way:

Norton SystemWorks and Firewall were disabled temporarily for troubleshooting purposes. Then the PC was re-booted. However this action had zero effect on fixing the problem, and the Norton products were then enabled again.

SP1 and SP2 will not be installed in this OS. However, the 19 "Critical" and "Security" Updates have been successfully installed.

You're never going to get another security patch from Microsoft without at least SP1, even if you have vulnerabilities. I'd install SP2 if I were you. If the problem is that your WinXP is pirated and won't accept patches, you should buy a proper CD and license (duh).

You can try researching your game issue by looking in your system's Event Viewer. Maybe that'll shed some light on it.

You know, I was hoping perhaps to get a little help from someone with more experience/knowledge than I have, but apparently I was living under a misapprehension, and have come to the wrong place/individual.

Looks to me like your wish to chastise someone, and offer NO help under the guise of "help" have been fulfilled. You should be ashamed.

Not very likely, after your display of bad attitude.
You should be ashamed.
For trying to help you with a glaring security problem? I'm not being judgemental, kid, I'm providing you with the solution to the likely problem. If your OS is legit, just say so, don't stage a drama-in-three-acts about it. And if it isn't legit, then don't flip me your righteous indignation act

Regarding your game issue, like I said, look in Event Viewer for clues about those errors.

Ummm, you were given a solution to your problem. Get a legit copy of windows and install SP2. It's not his fault if you don't like the solution for money/personal reasons.

And DO NOT rag on mechBgon. I have browsed these forums for years and his opinion is highly respected. The dude has over 20K posts and I'm sure at least half of them are in the support forum.... Get a grip man.

That was easy. Went to another site which has exactly the same games. They work fine from shockwave.com! Now I can set back, enjoy the games, and enjoy my XP Lava Lamp.

Thanks for the help.
