Always feel tired in the mornings - normal?

It seems like my roommates can stay up nearly all night and crash, but are magically refreshed and ready to get up in the mornings.

I always go to bed before them and will nearly always get a FULL 8 hours of sleep, but will be be completely exausted in the mornings. There are usually 1 or 2 days a week were I very seriously contemplate calling in sick, just because I want an extra hour or so of sleep. I'm not a lazy person by nature and enjoy my job, but I feel absolutely exhausted, like I had only gotten a couple hours of rest.

I have a good bed - or decent, at least.

What can I try in order to remedy this? Sleeping longer doesn't seem to help much. I'm a pretty light sleeper (if my phone is on my bed and set to silent, I will wake up from a text message vibration), so maybe I'm waking up during the night and don't remember??

Any ideas?

I'm like this too. No matter how much sleep I get, I'm so extremely tired in the morning. It's usually not until I force myself out of bed and have a shower that I'm actually fully awake.

Lots of times that sort of thing is caused by sleep apnea. See a doc to rule something medical out.

Either exercise hard in the morning to wake yourself up and give yourself energy. Or go hard later in the evening to play yourself out so you sleep really good.
I have the same problem, and unless I do something to wake myself up or knock myself out, I despise mornings.

It sounds like snoring is a major symptom, but I never really snore - Does that rule me out?

If you do in fact snore, you'd probably have no idea. Try a new pillow or possibly blackout curtains so the light doesn't wake you up in the morning.

I very rarely feel "refreshed" in the morning until i shower and dress. By then I'm awake enough to survive the day.

Sleeping in FTW tho . . .

I'm the same way; lately it feels like I haven't slept at all. In fact I didn't sleep at all last Saturday night; I worked on stuff all night and went for a bike ride at 6AM. Though, since then, I've been wiped out every morning (3-4 snoozes on the alarm, then quick get ready for work) though I have been getting to sleep better.

Maybe it's just part of getting older? There must be a reason so many people like coffee and it sure isn't the taste! :p

Yea, I have this problem too. Problem is, I have no desire or feel like no energy to pop out of bed. Once I've been out of bed for awhile, I usually feel awake, but sometimes I just feel so groggy and just want more sleep.
Exercising in the morning sometimes just makes it worse. Sometimes I'll have a little bit of pep after PT, but get home and just crash at my computer while browsin' the net. Some days, especially the days I start the morning feeling alert anyhow, PT will wake me up. I've seen no connection to any result, seems totally random. I think its basically how well I slept that night. Sometimes I'll try and get a good long nights sleep, but won't fall asleep and in bed awake for a few hours. I've had nights of 4 or 5 hours where I most likely fell asleep very fast, stayed asleep, and woke up feeling alert and ready to go. Other days I've been in bed for 6 or more hours, but probably didn't sleep all that well and didn't fall asleep within an hour... and wake up, and those are days where I'll go through 45 minutes worth of alarms, before I realize I have 20 minutes to get ready and get to PT. Ugh I hate those mornings, and they've been more and more common lately. :(

Hell yeah I do. But I don't have daytime sleepiness at all, even with not much sleep. It's just I can sleep for 8 hours and not want to get up at all cause I feel all champed, so I go for the whole 12 hours if I can. :)

This past week has been rough. I've been tired in the morning because of not much sleep, due to not having to wake up early for a long time and going to bed late, then all of a sudden having to wake up at 6:30am or so. But I've just been cutting a 200mg caffeine pill in half and pop that in the AM and I'm ready to go. But even without the caffeine it I tend to wake up decently after shower/20 minutes or so.

Change the amount you sleep - on average, I believe we sleep in 1.5 hour cycles. If you wake up between cycles, you will be refreshed, compared to waking up in the middle of one. Every person is different and you have to factor in the time it takes to fall asleep, so try changing from an 8 hour sleep to maybe 7.5, then 7, etc. and see which amount works best.

Hm, maybe that's why I wake up on my own at about 6:30 but then can't manage to drag myself out of bed at 7:00...
