Yeah, God bless Hollywood (20th Century Fox incarnation) who never had an original thought in their lives and is always willing to 'modernize' a previously successful idea.

The only tragedy is those people who pay actual money to take their kids to it.

If you don't want to be original, at least make a movie based on a book that doesn't have a movie yet.

although, they'd just fuck it up like every other movie based on a book, but still, it's gotta be better than remaking old movies.

I have to admit I had the same thought when I saw the trailer. They just don't seem to translate to CGI. Few originally hand-animated characters do.

Interestingly enough, they've gotten the original voices of the three (two voice actors of the 80's cartoon version) on the movie. I also notice that the CGI characters actually bear some resemblance to the original look (late 50's) which changed before they became an animated series in the early 60's and was similar to the look from the 80's series.

kinda disappointed that the chipmunks are sized like real ones, not the half height mutant ones from the tv show.

I was wondering the same thing when I saw the poster. I didn't remember many episodes with Alvin doing windmills or Theodore beatboxing.
