Alternatives to WoW?

I'm pretty sick of WoW after playing for about 15 months. Are there are GOOD MMOs that could replace WoW? I've heard that Warhammer online is going to be good when it comes out. Any suggestions?

right now? nothing.

the next one that sounds promising at all is Age of Conan, but that probably won't be until near the end of the year.

A life?

Haha, had to. 😛

Seriously though, just quit WoW, you should feel lucky that you got bored of it. Just quit and enjoy your life 109829031810928x more. I'm so glad I finally quit.

LOL - I swear, if it weren't for your hatred of Wow, you'd have a grand total of 15 posts on this forum. 😛

I'm looking for an alternative too. I've got a ton of late night free time before classes start and have been looking for an MMO to fill that slot.

Downloading the DAoC trial to see how that has been since release.

daoc was awesome when it 1st came out. i played about a year and a half when it was released. tried it out again not that long ago and couldn't get back into it. the population is really low. even though they updated the graphics, they still aren't as good as some of the other games out there. movement is rather clunky also.

DAoC's PvP is still the best of any MMORPG out there though. I'm only playing on free servers now since I don't play but maybe 3 or 4 times a week, if that. The interface needs updating but you can customize your own and create your own (via XML). The movement is only clunky if you leave everything at default. If you set it up so you're using mouselook, it's far better.

I've tried just about every MMORPG out there and I kept going back to DAoC just before of the PvP/combat system. They've finally gotten around to beefing up some of the lesser used classes (Thanes, Friars, Valewalkers, etc.), and maybe now that Mythic was bought by EA (gulp) maybe EA can channel some more $$$ towards Mythic for marketing. The PvE is horrible but nobody plays it to PvE.

I tried free trials of Dungeons and Dragons, also Anarchy Online. Did not like either of them. Tried EVE and played for a few months, then got tired of waiting to travel around.

Really wishing some better would come out. I've been off WoW for about 6 months, I would like something to play again when Winter rolls around.

Deus Ex.

Nah, he'd still have a couple thousand dedicated to his love for Diablo II.

the game just needs to start everyone at level 30 and with some decent equipment so that they can go have fun in the battlegrounds. that and a level 50 battleground... all most people ever wanted to do was chug around in emain (which was bad for the hibs because it meant that they could never get a good raid finished), and mythic ruined that with new frontiers.

Vanguard:SOH is coming out in late 2006.

They sold out to Sony/SOE, that game's dead. Sadly WoW is the best of what's out there.

You don't read much before spouting from your ass huh? SOE is handling tech aspects only. Sigil has full rights over content and in-game CS.

Link

As co-publisher of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Sigil assumes greater control of marketing and PR, while maintaining responsibility for game development, community relations, media relations, customer support, and quality assurance. Under the terms of the agreement, SOE will provide distribution, marketing, hosting and back-end support -- including billing and technical support -- for the game.

So naive...

City of Villains

BTW, how is DAOC now? I heard they added classic servers which is a definite plus to me but do you still start off at level 1 and have to go through that horrid pve experience just to get to the good pvp? Or can you start off at a higher level?
