Can anyone recommend an alternative to Windows Explorer on Windows 7? I want something that shows me the folder size in details view. Thanks.

Well, if you are not afraid of seeing file management details in a DOS text format, take a look at ZTreeWin. It is the Windows version of XTree which I grew up with. It works in XP, Vista, and Win 7, and is the most powerful file manager I know of. Well worth $29.95.

BTW - it reads folder sizes (directories) instantly - no calculation needed.

There are quite a few that are better than explorer, I really don't see how people continue to use it, its functions are cumbersome when working with lots of files.

Total commander is probably the most well known, click a folder and press space and it will display size or you can download one of the plugins that do it for you.

Directory Opus is another one, it has a feature that will display a bar graph for each folder to show size .

I like opus the best but it isn't cheap at $65. It does let you do just about anything with files and other things like ftp, network, etc.
