I own Samsung 193p+, which I love, but I find the MagicTune control software unwieldy and buggy. I would much rather prefer physical buttons on my monitor than Samsung's annoying software, but I'm out of luck there.
In general I think using only software to make monitor adjustments is a bad idea. Monitors can last long after the OS, and the PC itself, have been replaced. It would be a shame to not be able to use a functional monitor any longer simply because the necessary software isn't available years down the road.
Any software that interfaces over DDC like MagicTune is a sufficient alternative. softMCCS is one, the direct adjustment options in NVIDIA drivers (if applicable) is another. I'm sure there are more out there.
