As Napster use begins to slump, which alternatives will you be using?

1) Gnutella
2) iMesh
3) Aimster

I don't know much about any of these programs.

What about the new "song blocking" mechanism they are using? Will that affect those other servers that Napigator accesses?

no, since napigator doesnt connect to those servers. Only napster servers are bannig and stuff. Napigator uses the napster software to connect to its own servers.

So, between Gnutella, iMesh, Aimster (which accesses Gnutella), and Napigator, which has the largest user base (or largest music database)?

Well, looking at the download statistics at download.com, iMesh wipes the floor with all the other utilities. iMesh had more downloads last week alone than the others did in total.

yet another napster alternative thread;) I will continue to use other servers using napigator, I'll use Audiogalaxy (the one that started it all) and Bearshare.

Why do people think that once Napster goes down mp3s will be hard to obtain? Dude, I got a lot of mp3s without using napster, than once it rolled around BOOOOOOOOOOOM, then industries complained. People, its not the end of the world. Napster is just another program going down. no big deal, there are soooo many alternatives. Ftps, IRC, you name it. too many. Napster is just popular, thats why people post this crap! hehe sorry

Is there a reason I find more files on the regular napster server than with the napigator servers, despite the fact that napigator has 10 times more files accourding to the little thingy at the bottom?

At least 70% of Napster members already know about Napigator, and have made the selection on Opennap servers almost as good as Napster's :)

I made the jump to WinMX 2.1. It offers the same functionality as Napster, but is just not as polished. It does have a much faster search and returns more results.

alt.binaries.sound.mp3.* where I got 90% of my mp3's from before Napster came along.

Audiogalaxy and Limewire have both worked "ok" for me...Napster gave me problems with my hub anyway
