Alternatives to DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink?

I know DVD Decrypter development stopped a long while back, so I know it's not completely up to date as far as ripping/decrypting DVDs/CDs go. I'm looking for a potential alternative that works just as well (freeware).

I also didn't know if DVD Shrink is considered outdated by now, and wanted to check if there were any alternatives out currently.

You can try these:

DVD43
AnyDVD

DVD Shrink is actually a great software and it's used largely by people. Also, you can use a great software called ConvertXtoDVD. It's not free though but you can try the demo trial version and see.

I am not sure where Handbrake is at with regards to decryption of DRM and the like, but once you get past that phase, it is an excellent converter. It is under active development, and the latest Windows version is quite good (at least compared to how it was before)

The latest handbrake uses vlc to do dvd decryption. So if vlc can play the disk, handbrake can rip it.

What format are you looking for as an end result?

As far as free options DVDFab free edition works well.

Checkout slysoft products. If you want free, checkout DVD Fab Decrypter Free Edition.

I tried that, and it worked...but it left a watermark on my DVD. :(

Oh, and to answer an above question, I'm just using this to backup DVDs to an ISO file.

Looks like DVD Shrink is still good, which makes sense now that I think about it.

Don't you have to buy AnyDVD?

Yea sorry, AnyDVD isn't free, just stating that's the best solution I've found to create ISO's.

But as said above DVDFab free edition should work too.

dvdfab
they are still making discs that break even new rippers.
batman was the latest disc to break all rippers until updates were released.
dvd decryptor is long obsolete. for really old discs or ones without much protection it'll work i guess
dvdshrink works after decryption, as does handbrake
clonedvd works good in keeping menus even if splitting discs.

I own Anydvd which means I can still use dvddecryptor (the old standby) because every dvd is percieved as having no protections with Anydvd running.
