Alternatives to Blackberry?

My boss came by a little while ago and told me management is all panicky that they might lose their Blackberries. I'm supposed to come up with a proposal for a replacement if Blackberry gets shut down.

I tried telling them that RIM has about as much chance of getting permanently shut down as an asteroid wiping out all life on earth in the next year, but they won't hear it.

So, anyone know of a good alternative for Blackberry? This is for their Blackberry Enterprise Server plugged into Exchange.

well i personally prefer active synch on Microsoft mobile devices. But that would mean getting new handsets.

Cranberry?

Seriously...there's no alternative that really compares to Blackberry right now when it comes to business, but don't be surprised if a whole bunch of companies comes out with their own version if Blackberry gets shut down.

I was afraid of that. Management isn't going to like it when I tell them that if RIM goes under they are all SOL.

I've heard about the Treo's, but they don't have a central server for the enterprise like BES, do they?

I think they do.. that last company I interned at used Treos, and for some reason I remember hearing the IT guys talk about pushing out info across all of their clients... then again I may have just misunderstood.

But yeah, the chances of RIM getting shut down are slim to none, they'll be able to handle it.

Goodlink is an alternative that compares.

I seriously hope Apple comes out with a new Palm like device. That would be the end of all handhelds much like iPod's market domination.
You crack me up sometimes, man.
