Anyways, I think the electorial college system sucks (Just look at the current presidential candidates if you want proof). But being in the U.S. and being stuck to the 2-party system means the 2-parties won't likely got for other voting methods, since it means more power to the third party. Abusolute power corrupts absolutely.
Here's two alternatives.
Approval voting where you can cast a vote for each candidate. And the one which most voters approves of wins.
Borda count where voters rank the candidates, and the points are tallied, where higher rank = worth more points.
