Alternative to Windows Explorer?

Can anyone suggest something besides Explorer that will allow me to BU files onto a USB HD? For some reason BU operations with Explorer suddenly fail and I'm unable to continue.

Thanks in advance.

Can you be more specific about the errors you are seeing? The issue may be related to hardware and/or drivers and not Explorer.

You're just copy/pasting or drag/dropping?

Try something like synctoy, which allows you to designate source and target directories you want mirrored.

Still, if copying and pasting is failing, I have to wonder whether the USB connection to your HDD is stable...

I am inclined to agree with gooberlx that the USB port is the problem. Does your external HDD have its own power source? USB ports are notorious for random failings due to unstable USB power.

Try a different USB port. Better yet, use a powered USB hub. That takes the onus off of the system's USB power support.

As for Explorer failing - that is a very unlikely diagnosis. Especially if it works and then doesn't work. A software corruption is normally all the time.

I would create a new user which will create a new windows template and this may fix your problem all together.
