Alternative to the Wingman Gaming Mouse?

I love my Wingman Gaming Mouse, but I'm sick of cleaning it :p. If Logitech made this mouse optical, I would easily pay $100 for it. But since they dont, does anybody know of any good alternatives the Wingman, preferably optical? I like the way the Wingman feels in my hand and I really don't want a wheel in the middle...

Man, right when Razer was going to release the Mamba, they had to go and die. The Mamba would've used the technology that made the Boomslang so precise, but the conventional design of the Logitech Wingman. I was eagerly awaiting this mouse.

If you play FPS games seriously, then stick with your Wingman, or if you just play for fun, a Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse would suit you fine.

The main reason I want to stick with this mouse is because ever since when I tweaked my controls back in the day with Quake 1, I've use the middle button to walk forward and the right to go back. I don't use the configuration just in FPS games, but all games. I have tried using a two button mouse or one with a wheel in the middle, but I just find it impossible to get used to.

Wow, I though I was the only one who used the second and third mouse buttons for movement :)

Do you use left-ctrl for strafing left, left-alt for strafing right, and shift for jumping? That's how I had it for a long time. It was really hard to convert, but I'm using the WASD config now and it feels a lot more natural, all movement is taken care by my left hand and my right hand is aiming and firing. I'm not saying you should change your config though, just sharing my thoughts :) I still use my Wingman for FPS gaming, and my optical for other genres, and general use. This cuts down on the buildup in my Wingman and should help preserve its life for a longer period. Have you tried Mouseskatez? It makes the Wingman even more smoove, real nice stuff. Good luck

Nope, I actually right use z for left-strafe, x for right-strafe, a for jump, and space for duck. I like the way I have it now since my hand is pretty much close to enough buttons to where I dont really have to ever move my hand across the keyboard to do something in games that have a lot of binds (like Alien vs. Predator). Back in the Quake 1 days, I used just the numpad and my mouse and didnt use the keybaord for anything else except talking. Thanks for the advice, I was wondering if I should invest in mouse skates. I'm already spraying pledge on my Ratpad :).
