Is there a program that can totally take the place of Real Player or Real One or whatever you want to call it so I wouldn't even have to have RP installed? I can't stand their garbage of a program but some sites I go to have .ram files and such that need RP to play. I would love to completely uninstall RP and have a nice clean replacement for it.

Real Player uses a propritory format and has refused to release it to the "real" world.

All of us may be SOL.

Actually, there's a plugin for winamp that lets you play real audio/video files. There's a little work getting it to work, but at least you don't have to use Real Player! I've yet to install that piece of crap Real Player on my machine, I'm just plain boycotting any Real media. If anyone needs me to see something encoded in that piece of crap, they're going to have one less person viewing it. :)

OMG Thank you so much Red Rooster! I uninstalled RP right away after getting that plug-in. It works like a charm. The only thing you can't tell is how much buffering is left before it's going to play or even if it's going to play but I don't care. This rocks, thanks much. It's working like a charm.

Well I just found out that you have to have RP installed for it to work, oh well at least I won't have to use RP for anything though.

If you ran a search first you would have found exactly what you are looking for here.

fingerprints - Go to the thread that Bglad linked to. Look for my post near the bottom of the thread. You can hack the registry a llittle and be able to use the plugin w/o Real Player actually being installed.
