Alternative to itouch + google earth?

basically something that'll work like itouch with google earth, just without internet/phone service.

is there such a combination? I searched for apps but there are only few and they only offer a few US locations

and hopefully size of a hand held device

How would that work? Wouldn't your itouch need like 4353543 gb of space to even store such images.

Are you looking for detailed maps, directions, or globe viewing? Because I don't think there are offline apps that embody all 3.

don't need to be detailed, just cities will do, doesn't even have to look all 3d and such

The ipod touch / iphone app OffMaps sounds like what you need.

It can download and store maps offline of any area at any zoom levels. No search function though, but you can bookmark wherever you like, and browse the bookmarks.

Probably not what you are looking for.
Most of the good programs for this are designed for PCs. But that would require a netbook at least.
