between your big toes

:p

Edit: My car's cupholder is broke too. This is the default drink position for anyone who doesn't have a cupholder available. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Go to a junk yard and salvage a cup holder from a car within a couple years of your current.

Talk to the guy/girl at the desk and they should be able to tell you the year range for the cup holder, and where you can find those cars.

I think there are still the kind you can hang from the window (fits into the slot between the glass and the door.)

Crotch it.
Balance on lower edge of steering wheel. My biggest peeve about my current truck is that it has a lower vertical spoke on the steering wheel so I can't balance a super big gulp there.
Sometimes drinks can be wedged between door and seat.

don't use cups/cans
only bring bottles into your car

i have a 1990 car that was before cup holders were invented, so i just buy bottles

in my old car there was a small area beneath the radio that i could insert half of a carboard-drink-holder-thinggy from tim hortons. worked pretty well and easy to replace.

superglue + foam thermal drink holder + dash

superglue the drink holder to the dash. It is naturally molded to the shape of a canned drink and will keep it cold. Only problem is that it may be hard to immedeately take out for a quick swig.

In the olden days (before cupholders) they used to sell cup holders mounted on top of a small bean bags.

Maybe ebay has some of these antiques?

I have an 88 Jetta that doesn't have cupholders. I stick cups in between the passenger seat and the handbrake.

They sell, or used to sell, center consoles with cup holders. There are also stand alone cup holders of all kinds.

Really man this isn't a very tricky situation. Have you taken a step back and thought about a solution, creative or not?
Hell, I could rig up at least 10 gerryrigs to get that puppy workin.

Man, I totally forgot about those things...

I don't think I've seen one of those in years, maybe it's just my geographic location or something, but talk about a blast from the past.

People use cupholders in their cars?

But what happens when you take a sharp corner at high speed?

Uh... there must be a number of possible solutions. Even those chinsy things that stick in by the glass of your window might work well enough.

I personally use my center console. A few years back, the chinsy piece of metal broke so all that was left is a ~1/2" deep place to set a cup... so it'll take one but it'd go flying with any turn or start/stop. Hell, even with the metal, it wouldn't hold jack. The center console holds it securely enough... some movement is possible but not enough to spill really.
