Hey guys, I am looking to construct a supercomputer once the HD9000 series and IB-e drops, and I need a massive case for all the WC and hard drives I will be running. I was wondering if there was an alternative to caselabs or mountain mods cases? Caselabs is amazing and have a ton of features, but I dont like the idea of spending 450$+ on a case, and mountain mods honestly just sucks. Screws everywhere on the outside and the case itself isnt as well thought out.

Thanks!

Technically not a super computer...

corsair 900d won't work?

If the 900D doesn't work, you're SOL

The 900D doesnt have NEARLY enough hard drive areas, plus for what I get its way too overpriced. To give you an idea, my current case is the rosewill blackhawk ultra.............so a 900D isnt that much of an improvement. Im looking for a massive case to hold about 20+ hard drives, 4 GPU's, maybe a couple CPU's (probobly just 1) liquid cooled RAM, MB, and whatever else I can liquid cool :D

A 900D is too small for all that and my hard drives, which are the most important part of my system (I need a lot of space).

I wouldn't really call that a supercomputer.

But sadly, you are looking at spending $400+ on a case. I suppose you could try and have it made from aluminum at a metal shop nearby, but I doubt you'll end up with a similar product. Even if the work is identical, I am sure they get their raw materials for much cheaper than you will, plus they have a design that is worked out.

Once u get up there... thats the starting price on the case.
And btw.. its 450 STARTING...
after all the options expect the final price tag to be roughly 600...

can i tell u in advance ur SOL'd? (shhoot out of luck).
Your not going to find a case like that for 450 dollars.... 600 dollars wont even do it.
Your looking at getting a MM type case + Pedistool + extended... weeeee... 800 dollar case 2 week CAD design wait.... ur SOL'd.

Did u really think it would be that easy to build a PC of that size?
Can i tell you the last time i rebuilt my PC, it took 3 days to complete just the watercooling?

Drat........so there are NO alternatives to CL or MM? I guess ill have to succumb to the monopoly and buy a caselabs case.............

No alternatives, unless you want to build a case.

MM and CL cases are amazing, hand crafted, with loads of options

There's no monopoly. There are plenty alternatives, but none of them are cheap.

TJ-11 wont handle it.

he wont have room for 4 drives let alone 20.

This is why i said he needs to get a MM type case + pedistool + extended.
I wasnt kidding in telling the OP exactly what he needs.

And for the case to natively handle 20 drives, without the use of drivebay holders, he would need to have them draft or submit a custom cad layout on the case, so he could have it handle 20+ hdd's.

True, but the point is that there are a few options, each with their own pros/cons. None of them are cheap. Personally, I'd opt for Caselabs for a fully water cooled PC. The TJ11 is probably more for standard water cooling rigs or high end air.
