Alternative software for ipod.

Hi, my name's daniel. Im about to go out ang get an ipod today and i found out that you can't transfer music thats on ur ipod back into a computer. Since im new to the whole ipod "scene" i was wondering if anyone knows alternative software or a hack that woiuld let me do that.

help would be appreciated.

I use ephpod. I'd rather have a player that allowed me to put music on/off manually though, but my ipod was free (4gb mini from my bank) so I guess I can't complain..

yeah i use winamp and the ipod plugin. it works great and is free. I like using better than itunes actually

Man, thank you so much you guys for all the help. That was the only problem i saw with the ipod and you guys fixed that. My sincere thanks.

for the sole purpose of just copying music back and forth from ipod to pc i'd go with sharepod (http://sturm.t35.com/sharepod/).
it's a standalone exe and can be run off the ipod (so if you take your pod to your friend's house or wherever, you don't need to download/install anything onto their computer).

GTKPod or MediaChest. All other programs do not support smart play lists and artwork, so useless.
