So my wife is stuck on her sluggish (after upgrade to iOS4) iphone 3g for a few months and I'd like to try whited00r (alternate/hacked iOS 3+ that's supposed to be faster and more like iOS5). The only problem is that the app store won't work. Since a jailbreak is include, are there good alt appstores out there?
Thanks!

to clarify, I know of cydia but I'm talking apps like games, etc. (and my old memory of cydia is that it mostly had utilities)

WTF is she doing with a 3G? get her a 3GS or a 4

Got absolutely tired of our verizon bills being close to $350 a month so we went prepaid last week and now our combined bill's less than $100 with unlimited everything. Using her old 3G temporarily until her birthday (because I'll have to purchase the 4S off contract)

$350/month? WTF?

Unlimited everything through Sprint is $110/month. (More than you're paying yes, but having to buy a phone up front is very, very painful for us poor people.)

almost everyone has discounts for school or employer affiliation and family plans are cheaper than paying for single lines. and don't forget that calls within the same network are free and don't count towards minutes.

AT&T is like $120 for 2 iphones on a family plan. and since there are still crazy people afraid of contracts out there who are willing to buy old phones the new iphones are essentially free after your first one

my wife became eligible for a new phone after 15 months on iphone 4. used iphone 4's are $250 or more on craiglist. they better be over $200 later this year because she wants to wait for the next one

only reason to buy unlocked is if you travel outside the USA a lot and need to use local sim cards

Yeah, Verizon made me upgrade to the most expensive plan after I had a few months of overages (plus blackberry bes server fees and taxes, etc.) = CAR PAYMENT! At $90 + tax ($45/each) for 2 lines I think I'm going to stick with the unlimited prepaid route even if it means paying for the 4S up front. I already got myself a used Samsung focus (that I love) for only $100 so an iPhone at MSRP would be easy to justify considering I'm saving over $200 a month. Just want to time the purchase with her birthday so she's stuck on her sluggish 3G for now

There is one other app store... that you need Cydia to get, but I don't think this is the right place to ask because it's illegal.

In fact, if you can't access the App Store, then trying to get apps outside of it is illegal regardless.

Not legal, just against Apple's TOS.
