Geo (Earth) thermal (heat) energy is a heat and power resource that is clean, reliable and homegrown. Geothermal energy is a form of heat energy from deep in the earth. Heat is brought to the surface by thermal conduction of the earth's crust of molten magma. Ground water is heated to form ?hydrothermal resources?. Hydrothermal resources are tapped to generate electricity or to produce hot water for direct use. For generation of electricity, hot water at temperatures ranging from about 300deg.F to more than 700deg.F is flashed into steam in special vessels by release of pressure. The steam is separated from the liquid and fed to a turbine engine, which turns a generator.
The geothermal technologies used today only use a tiny part of the total geothermal resource. Miles everywhere under the Earth's surface its hot and dry rock is being heated by the molten magma. One day, we might also be able to recover heat directly from the magma. The earth?s geothermal resources could supply the energy needs of the entire world for maybe even the lifetime of the earth.

then send the waste into space on a collision course with the Sun...

alrighty then..

while you're at it, we do things Simpsons style.. the good people go to Mars, the bad people go to the sun. Cooltech2k, watch out, I foresee hot days ahead..

lol, j/k, but seriously, that will never happen until a system of transportation that is 100% reliable (in other words, no failure of delivering the cargo) is devised. Rockets are simply to unreliable for that.

what would you need? well, one thing could be a tower that is tall enough so that 'elevators' so to speak can just fly off of it without requiring rockets to gain the necessary velocity (looking at a Star Trek Voyager episode here).. that would be much more reliable methinks..
