Alternative CDRW Drives

I am wanting to purchase a CDRW for my new rig...but I want a black drive.

Unfortunately, Plextor's black CDRW is highly priced at harddrive.com. I was browsing around NewEgg for their prices on CDRWs. I found that both SONY and TEAC carry black CDRW drives too, but at a much lower price.

I would like to know how dependable/reliable Sony & TEAC drives would be as compared to a Plextor Plexwriter. Please advise...Thanks!

I've heard good things about Sony drives, a couple of friends of mine had them and they've had no complaints. I had to RMA my Matshita-manufactured ThinkPad CD-RW drive, and the new drive is a manufactured by Sony. So far the Sony drive (CRX700E) has been great, but I haven't had it long enough to really know yet. Don't know anything about TEAC's CD-RW drives, but TEAC used to make some of the best reel to reel tape decks ages ago, and TEAC's audio equipment is good quality.

the sony cdrw's are really nice. (i might be mistaken, but i think they used to make the hp labeled cdrws)

how much better are the plextors comapred with Sony and TEAC brands of CDRWs?

Plextor has a rebate on their drives now, but i still need a black bezel...which would cost $35 itself at harddrive.com

Then at newegg, Sony and TEAC black CDRWs are priced a little over $100 shipped.
