How in god's name can I get my Athlon XP to 1.6 v, where I had it before a BIOS update? At 1.6v, it's really running 1.65v, which is just right for my 2400+, but right now the lowest I can get it is 1.65v through BIOS. I know I did this before, I just can't remember how, and I am really getting pissed off as this thing has given me nothing but trouble since the BIOS update... Any help would be much appreciated.

What BIOS are you running and (unless the update provided you with a critically needed fix) why don't you flash back to what you were using before?Other than that, you probably need to take another look at the jumper and/or BIOS settings. If you go to
this excellent thread about this board and scan over to page two, you will find some good info there. Just gotta do some reading. :D
If you don't find what you need there, LMK and I'll take a look at my settings for you to see how they compare.

Alright, I got it, what I ended up doing was experimenting with jumpers (eep). Thanks for the link, that's what got the ball rolling.

Glad you got it worked out. What BIOS are you running anyway? The "powers that be" claim that 1016 is the best one for this board as far as stability and reliability.
I'm using the Lumberjack BIOS with UDMA promise drivers. Enables me to put each IDE drive on it's own channel. Just a personal preference.

If all seems ok then no reason not to stick with it I guess. You might want to do a search over at that forum I linked to, or post a question there about the BIOS though. They have a couple of top notch builders with vast experience with that board. Just an idea. BTW, are there advantages to the 1017 BIOS over the 1016 that I would benefit from?

I have no idea about advantages, I just updated for the sake of updating. You might want to check out the Asus website for that.

Just found this (and a couple of other similar quotes) over at AMDMB.com:
agree with mypolar.

Do run BIOS 1016 - 1017/1018 have issues - gaming lockups, CD-R/W IDE controller problems - 1016 works.

I think I'll stick with 1016, thanks anway.
