Well, it's Friday and because of this my mind is focusing on everything but work. So, I was thinking about a book I read a long time ago where Aliens invade earth about the time that WW2 was escalating. Anyways it was a pretty cool book because everyone had to work together to fight the Aliens, we nuked Florida yadda yadda. Because of this, I was thinking along the lines of alternate history and was thinking about what would have happened if the Vikings had not been repelled from America by the Natives Americans? Now this was in around 998 CE so the weapons of Europe and the Native Americans would have been comparable unlike when the exodus to America occurred.
What I was thinking is that if the Vikings would have come to some kind peace agreement then they would have established a trade route from Scandinavia to the New World. Thus the Native Americans would have had contact to Europe and the rest of the world and thus would have been kept abreast of the technological advancements that would occur later on. If this happened then the whole Chirstopher Columbus adventure and the Pilgrams wouldn't have occured. Also, the Scandinavians would have had access to a lot of the resourses that were in the Americas.
Just a thought.
