Yes they can be hooked to a computer by using a 3.5mm stereo cord and then hooked to Aux input.
The cord is not supplied with the speakers. A friend of mine has the 2.1 system hooked to his PC
and he says they sound great Link.

I saw the 2.1 version on sale for 19.99 awhile back. Almost bought them but reviews were mixed at best. Most reviewers came down to so so xound but cool look if you like that kind of thing.

My good old Altec Lansing Satellite 31 has been sounding good for the past 7 years. If they have maintained the quality then I think this should be a pretty good deal.

I'm wondering how it's 5.1 sound works though, does multi-channel sound require multiple inputs?

I have the 2.1 hooked up to my tv, and there's a night and day difference from the stereo speakers that are attached to the tv. Seriously, I have 2 sets of the 2.1 (had 3), and they are freakin' awesome. Now, I'm sure these sound nicer with the additional speakers.

Dang, I want one! The more I look at it, the more I want it. BUT, I ordered the 2.1 a few weeks ago, and it is still sitting in its box!! I hate this forum.

I have the 2.1 for my comp and they are awesome. Of course, for $20 this is the best bang for the buck I never thought could happen. If you want great sound for good price, the 2.1 is the way to go.

Also, comparing to other 200-300 5.1 system, this one wouldn't stand much chance. But even though I am not a musician, the difference is extremely noticable (unless you are either deaf or have one of those >$1000 sound system at home)

Alright, a lot of the people are talking about 2.1, including me. How about this 5.1? Give me some real feedbacks from AT users!

And what kind of sound card do you need? I'm asking mostly for bargain hunting purposes...like what kind of card at a minimum can I mate with these 5.1 speakers?

Any generic audio card. I think Office Max has one that is free after rebate this week. Hell, even onboard AC will work with it.

I think OfficeMax has 5.1 Maddog soundcard for free AR this week. I have the card. It is based on the older ALS650 (is it ALC?) Anyway, while it is not that Soundblaster ZS or that fancy stuff, it is a "matured" chipset with a nice sound.
