Altec Lansing ADA305/ACS495

I got the ACS495 with my Dell Dimension PIII 450 a year ago, and it sounds awesome. My only problem is that, on that particular system, the speaker had no problem under Win98. However, under Win98SE and WinME, it makes pop noises when OS loads up. It's loud explosion sound that wakes my roommates up. Now I moved the speakers to my newly aquired Dimension 1GHz, and it still has the same problem.
I called Dell (who claimed to have the best tech support in the world), and they wouldn't help me unless I put back Win98 which came with the computer. Is anyone have the same problem with those speakers? I'm thinking about send this one back to Dell and get either the Harman Kardon HK695, or Altec Lansing ADA880R. I know ADA880R has a power switch on the speakers itself, so even that speaker makes poping sound, I can leave the speakers off until OS is fully loaded. Or I should go for HK695, which is like HK595 but in smaller package. What do you think???

I have WinMe and ADA-305 speakers. No "pop" noise here.

Although it did happen when I had my SBLive!. But as soon as I switched to an MX300 (and now on a Santa Cruz), there's no boot-up "pop".

I have Turtle Beach Montego 3D 320v on my old dell, and SBlive! on the new one. Both system pops with those speakers.. I thought it was sound card problem when I had TBM, but I guess it pops on SBliveValue too.

No offence... I dont like Dell at all (and think their tech support sucks a$$) but that is one of the most idiodic comments I have ever heard. Think before you make such off the wall statements.
