Altec Lansing ACS-295

[Nullity]

Are these speakers any good? I don't need anything big or powerful..just something that had more than decent bass and somewhat good power. Please no other suggestions..I just want opinions on these speakers.

I have used these speakers. They came with a Dell system I bought a couple of years ago. They are just what you describe. Decent bass and power. Nothing mindblowing. I was happy with them. Then one day they quit working. Dell sent me a replacement set of ACS 340's. No better than the 295's in my opinion.

i just remembered my aunt has the same speakers with her dell computer...the speakers are just like our cambridge ones, except the volume control is on the speaker...

I have 2 sets of them. I paid $30 for them after rebate from Best Buy about 2 years ago. They are more than adequate as computer speakers - I have one pair set up on my desk and I decided to use my Radio Shack sound level meter to see how loud they would play before obvious distortion set in. I cranked 'em up and the meter said 106 dB before the bass started to distort - that's about as loud as a live concert! And the sound quality including bass extension is pretty good.

They also used to come OEM with certain Dell systems, as others have mentioned.
