Alt-text + Length of time on screen

First off, I'm a newb, so please forgive me. Anandtech is my last hope for figuring this out.

I use Alt-text on some images to give them a description. Now, when you hover your cursor over the image, the alt-text pops up and stays on screen for 5 seconds, but then disappears.

Is there anyway - whether through HTML or a javascript or something - that can make the text stay up as long as your cursor is over the image?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
