alt-tab lagging with games?

So basically what happened was I switched my video card from my ti4600 to a radeon 9700 pro. Before when I was playing games such as Warcraft 3 I could alt-tab out of the game with little to no lag time (as in flipping from game screen to desktop screen). However, after switching to my 9700p, I get a 2-3 second switching lag. Even on games such as Kings Quest 1 (just visited the free games thread in the software section). Anyone know why this would happen or had this happen to them before?

Some kind of hardware resolution switching issue. My LCD takes about 2-3 seconds longer to switch resolutions (whether switching full screen/desktop/emulators/bootup) than my CRT though it's not a serious issue that impacts anything while running a specific app or game.

To test this, put your game at the same res as the desktop (or vice versa)

As a general rule nVidia's drivers handle Alt-Tabbing much better than ATi's.

Thanks for the responses. I think BFG10k probably has it right on this one since the games were the same resolutions on both video cards, which just happened to also be the native resolution for my LCD and my current desktop res. I guess I'll just have to live with it :p.
