Alt + Printscreen in Windows Media Player results in an Animated Bitmap! WTF?

So I was playing an XVid file right... and I wanted a screenshot.

I alt printscreen'd it and pasted in paint, HOLY MOFO the movie was playing IN PAINT. When I closed windows media player, the picture turned black...

Printscreening the screenshot didn't help. And printscreening the screenshot of the screenshot didn't help either. Nor did covnerting it to a different file format. Nor did creating a program (VB.NET, using GDI+) to display the image and printscreening that. Meh! Saving as JPG made the whole thing black, saving as TIFF didn't do jack sh1tz (it was the same as a bitmap)

So is there any way to capture a screenshot of that video? Thanks.

yeah... what you have to do is in Windows media center there is an option that allows for software processing of the image. IE dont put it straight to your video card. This will allow you to take a capture. Also in windows media center I believe its crtl-t or something but it'll take a screenie for you.

Media Centre...? 😕

Anyway.
WMP -> Tools -> Options -> Performance -> Advanced -> turn off "Use Overlays".

Now you can grab screenshots from Windows Media Player.
