Also, two wireless network cards stopped working!

The reason I'm trying to network the two computers via a router in the first place (as written in my other thread) is because the wireless cards in both computers all of a sudden decided to stop working. I hadn't done any changes to the computers before it happened, they just suddenly, for no apparent reason, decided to quit. These were two D-links. I had a wireless network of three computers, one stationary and two laptops. One of the laptop's network cards still works - a Mitsubishi card. I can put it in the other laptop and it will work fine, and I can put the D-link card in either of the computers and it won't work in either one. Is it the wireless router that's causing the problems you think? I find that odd too since the router is also D-Link, yet suddenly refuses to work with D-link network cards? Any ideas? Thanks again!

Did you do any Microsoft windows updates? I had a NIC fail when that happend... Or the router is slowly dieing and is sending high voltage to the nic cards. Who knows this stuff is cheap. Sounds like an upgrade is in order...

I hadn't made any updates for a long time when that happened. I think you might be right about the router dying, I can't think of anything else. I think I'll skip the upgrade though, I'm getting fed up with this wireless crap, I've had so much bad experience with it now and spent so much money on it. Unless I find a solution to this problem, I'm going to stick to wires. Thanks.

There are millions of people using Wireless Network; it is hard to believe that you are singled out to be cast with an Omen.😉

If the Router died, it is Not the end of the world there are Wireless Router on sale for less than $10.

It is hard to help when the only information availble is that it does not work.

Put the Wireless Client next to the Router and reconfigure default connection with No filters or security.

Link to: Wireless - Basic Configuration.

If it does not work, start to debug the Network settings to find out what in specific is Not Working.

In General, you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer?s Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify
If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet
If need to Reinstall; Log to this page it have a lot of links to instructions for Windows Network Installation - http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html
