So yea. FOr those who don't know. I went on a self-imposed vacation to stop my addiction to Anandtech Forums for one month. Well, here's the general "Confessions of an addict:"
Week 1
So I'm sitting at my computer working. That's right, working. Actually doing stuff for college that helps my grade, not my postcount 😉 Subliminally, I must still want to check out what's going on at the ol' ATOT corral, so I find myself gliding the curser over the AT quicklink on the firefox "favorites toolbar." I actually clicked it once or twice so my "date of last login" may be less than a month ago as when I officially vacationed myself, but I assure you, I caught myself and backed up right away. It's strange though. Imagine your daily routine being shifted suddenly. Like, going to work for 40 years, and then hitting a forced retirement... only not as dramatic. I find myself perusing the Fark.com and Collegehumor.com sites like I did ATOT. Fortunately, those links don't get responses so once I'm done viwing, I'm SOL. THen I have to face the light... err. sun... that thing many of you here haven't seen since fall started.
Week 2
Getting easier. Picked up a copy of Morrowind for the PC from my housemate and got the DaemonTools crack so I can play without the cd. As anyone who's ever played morrowind knows, this game will keep you more addicted than crack. I find myelf coming home from classes at 5pm, starting a single quest for House Hlaalu and having it completed by... WHAT!? 2am?! What happened to dinner? Oh well, there's a Nix Hound. I'll just virtually eat him.
Week 3
exam week. oh goodie! //sarcasm
Pulled more all-nighters than a crack addict pulling cold turkey in a sanitarium. By friday, I basically passed out right in the middle of the hallway. Some of you Tech students might have seen me. I was kinda mid-way to the Rehki Computer Lab lounge, but still halways in the hallway. I basically passed out right there in the doorway for about 30 minutes. So yea, that weekend was spent on my futon for the next 48 hours. just sleeping.... with a gallon milk container of water and a bendy straw. You gotta love exam week. :roll:
Week 4
Looking forward to Halloween next saturday. I have one exam, which I did poorly on, but at least it's over with...for now. Oh and hey! Haven't checked AT for over 2 weeks now. Not even accidentily clicking on the hotlink out of habit anymore. Havent' played Morrowind since the beginning of exam week, so that's cool too. one less addition to worry about once winter break hits. <<fast forward>> big party last saturday. so big in fact, the cops showed up. luckily, because the university literally keeps the town alive, the fuzz is cool about it. I was upstairs when I heard the "We're coming back in a couple hours and we want all the minors out," and I dashed it over to my friend's house just a couple blocks away. Didn't even have a party there, but the cops showed up there too for some reason. We figured it was cause one of my drunk friends decided to ride his bike over there and take the main street instead of the backroad. Not like the cops are going to ignore someone who can't ride a bike straight down the middle of a busy street. lol

So yea. I'm pretty much cured. I've only had the temptation to post last sunday when I wanted to check out some computer parts for my half-year upgrade. TV-Tuner cards, RAM, liquid cooling for my gpu and CPU. etc. Other than than... the neffing syndrome is gone! woot. In fact, if this could be considered neffing, this will be the last neff post for quite some time. vacations are fun... but not when it straddles exam week. (i'd be angry at the profs, but i killed all memory cells of that time period last saturday at the party :thumbsup: )
