although I agree with you Deeko, so is religion, politics, etc. yet we have a whole sub forum for politics & I can count on at least 1 thread a week(exaggerated) to turn into a religious flame war. These forums support it....just a debate.

While music and taste is subjective, facts supporting or refuting religious or political ideologies are not. One CAN use objectivity while debating religion and politics. One cannot do so when arguing over what is beautiful or what music is "good."

i can. good music is something original that i havent heard before. ergo, all music sucks. period.😉

lol, ive never understood why people get so offended when thier choice of music is criticized. just opinions.

Some people here just don't seem to understand this concept. There is no such thing as "good" music or "bad" music. Music is completely opinion based, is that REALLY so hard to understand? What I think is good, you may not, what you think is good, I may not. You can't say "god rap sucks there is no talent" or "man I hate rock music, its all the same". How do you define true, good music? If you like to listen to it. That's it. I may listen to a song and can't stand it, to me it isn't good music. I might still recognize that there is musical talent behind it, but to me it still isn't good music. Is this concept REALLY that diffuclt to grasp? Just shut up and listen to what you like to hear.

people just need to be more opended minded to differences of opinion, and dont worry just because you like Barry Manilow that doesn't make you anyless of a man!

True, you can't even really argue that music is "good" or "bad" depending on the skills of the musicians. Most pop and rock singers are awful if you apply technical standards from the classical world, and most of the guitarists are fair at best. I'd still much rather listen to Tori Amos sing than Dawn Upshaw though.

You can argue for some music within a genre being more thoughtful, influential, original, accessible or popular than other music, though.

But it's easier just to remind you that Hilary Duff "likes hummers."
