Alright, I've Been Living In A Cave

I just now finished watching the first Matrix movie. I rented both from blockbuster. I bought WinDVD 5 Platinum online ($70, youch!) so I could watch it. Turned the lights down low, turned on all the fancy options I could find in WinDVD (Audigy 2 24bit sound! Woo woo! But does hardware video help me at all?) turned the volume up high and let it roll....

I'm shocked that I could have been missing out on this for so long. It was freakin awsome. My only regret was watching it on my 17" LCD, since it really only used a third of the screen to show the movie, what w/ the native res and wide screen and all that.... I need one of those wide screen LCDs... Do those help for movies?

Anyways, it was awsome! If you haven't seen it, maybe because you thought it would officially make you a nerd.... It probably will. But it was worth it. Wow... And the scene where they storm the Military Prison thing through the front door.... I was like "Hey! That's 3dmark01 !!!"

dude, not only did you watch a five year old classic just now, you watched it on a 17" LCD. GO TO A FRIEND'S BASEMENT AND USE THEIR BIG SCREEN FOR GOD'S SAKE.

I have a bigscreen, but it's not High definition.... Looks awful!! And we don't have basements in Texas.

That is kinda how I felt when I saw it originally in the theatre. Everyone was talking about how good it was but I hadn't seen any kind of major advertisements or hype about it. I think I saw it the 2nd or 3rd week it was in the theatre, afterwords I kicked myself for not going to the opening. Everyone had been anticipating Phantom Menace all year, then the Matrix came out of nowhere.

Now, go rent this little known classic called The Godfather

Not many people know of this movie, but it's pretty good. 😛

Here. Have a cookie. 🙂

ups

The fact that you recognized the lobby scene as being from 3DMark makes you a MUCH bigger nerd than watching the Matrix. 😀

Also, I assume you realize that 3d mark 01 came after 1999's the matrix.

Congrats though on finally seeing a modern classic.

Oh... I didn't realize that. I play 3dmark all the time though, it's my favorite game! I don't keep track of Matrix history though... Didn't realize it came out so long ago....

any bigger screen with enough pixels helps🙂 its just that a non wide screen would have to be quite big to match a wide one when it comes to movies. sweetness is you get full animorphic goodness, on either as there are enough pixels to display the entire image. only hdtv's certain higher end tvs can do this, on most standard def tv's animorphic get their extra resolution tossed by the player.

i'd rather watch a movie on a computer monitor then a tv if the tv's only standard def, standard def is pathetic.

and wow, how old or young are yout hat you missed out on the matrix?

and windvd platnum is the best!

matrix 1 blew me away in the theater, but i thought it copped out at the end because i had no idea that there were 2 more coming out. if i had known, i would have really liked it when it first came out🙂

I'm not old or young... I just never went to see it because it seemed like such a nerd movie.... Does this mean I should see the Lord Of The Ring Movies? (I'm being TOTALLY serious. Those seemed like the hugest nerd movies...)

This reminds me of my friend who took it as a point of pride never to have watched the star wars movies (we were in highschool). He did it because he thought they were nerdy and he was too good for it. I'm not saying you and him are one in the same, but he was a socially inept loser jackass, and watching a star wars movie was the last of his worries.

If you think you'll enjoy LOTR or matrix watch it. Watching a movie doesn't make you a nerd. CHrist above.

i had no idea there was a nerd movie stigma. where do you live? nerd movies are cool here in california. look at how well harry potter/matrix/lotr etc do.
