Alright guys, Bottom of the 9th and I need your help!

Ok, it's like this, I just put together my new system, specs are as follows:

Intel P4 2.4B
Albatron PX845PEV PRO
512mb PC2700 DDR RAM
80GB ATA/100 Maxtor HD
GeForce 4 Ti4400

Ok, I installed windows 98.

Here's the problem. Right before it loads completely, I get this error:

"General Protection Fault. Windows failed to load driver "ndis".
You Must Restart Computer

Windows XP works fine, but I cant use it because it's not my copy so I cant activate it and I'd rather not get a visit from Microsoft.

Any ideas on what I can do to get Win98 to load? BIOS settings?

They dont make that fix available unless you call? And the hours are only 3pm - 6pm PST???!!!!

God I hate Microsoft!!! You do not know who much I wanted to get this system working!!!!

Glad I could help, sorry it's not a quick fix 🙁 You might PM Duvie, I know he's had to dance around this bug with his overclocked P4 rigs and maybe he has the fix, if it's a patch of some kind.

edit: can you underclock it to the 400MHz bus for starters...? 1800MHz is better than nothing.

Wow, you're quick 😀 As I mentioned above in my edit, what about underclocking to the 400MHz bus for 1800MHz to start with? Will the board let you do that?

I dont know, the P4 box is sitting unplugged in the living room so I wouldnt kick it! 🙂

I am posting from my AMD box. Thanks for the tip though, I might try that.
