Alright, ATOT, pick a microbrew for me

New Belgium Abbey Ale

Buy as many as you can fit in your house.

It isn't quite as good as the 'real thing' but it's very close... and a 6-pack costs about what one small bottle of actual belgian abbey dubbels cost.

Best beer that New Belgium makes if you ask me. Fat Tire is very overrated. I could drink nothing but these and never get bored with it.
 
Lost Abbey makes some excellent beers.

Edit-Nevermind, I see they aren't on your list. Bevmo carries them locally and they brew a fantastic beer.

i tend to favor dark beers, looking at the list:

srs. bluemoon isnt bad but its too easy to find year round, and nothing special. i do like their harvest moon and winter moon brews, not outstanding beers, but affordable and quite decent.

dogfish head palo santo marron. delicious, with a bourbon-y bakground. fantastic beer. easily my favorite beer at this point in time. sip it, enjoy it...its something like 9 or 10% but its great.
-IF you see theobroma, get that, amazing drink.
- if you like pumpkin beers their punkin ale is tasty

anything from bells is good, at least what ive had, which is most of it.

breckenridges oatmeal is good, the vanilla has a *very* strong vanilla flavor if youre into that

three philosophers is good if you like belgian style ales.

rogue: chocolate stout, dead guy, mocha, somer orange honey

chimay anything, if you like belgians

sammy smiths oatmeal stout or taddy porter

youngs double chocolate

ayinger Celebrator: amazingly good dopple bock.

becks dark: like becks, but dark. i dont care for becks, but the becks dark is tasty.

paulaner salvatore dopple bock

spaten: optimator, dunkle, or oktoberfest

okocim porter: one of my favorite beers. great beverage.

guinness black lager: quite tasty and smooth

murphys irish red: great, great irish red.

belhaven scottish ale

xingu black

also, see my sig. i drink lots of beer, so i have a large list of beers ive had, some with descriptions/opinions, and the document has a second sheet that is a wishlist.
 
Went with a 6pk of Moose Drool and a 6pk of Spirit of the Hawk Select Ale. Didn't see the theobroma, but I saw other Dogfish brews. Mostly IPAs though.
 
Out of that list, I'd go with any of the following:

Flying Fish Belgian Dubbel
Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout
Ommegang Rare VOS
Oskar Blues G'Knight

And if you love yourself, you'll spend the $15 and get yourself a bottle of Lost Abbey Angel's Share.

EDIT: Adding in Spaten Oktoberfest after reading Sauron's post. Listen to that dude, he knows what's up.

No IPA's? If you want to try a really good pilsner, the North Coast Scrimshaw Pilsner was delicious last time I had some, more bodied than most. It is on the list.

Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, rich bodied ale that is brewed to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish. Eye of the Hawk has garnered a cult following that is enviable.

Standard Op, 1 6pk of new, 1 6pk of tried and true. 😛 Eye of the Hawk isn't bad, little aftertaste though. The aftertaste is why I cannot stand IPAs though, sends a shudder down my spine every time I drink.
 
Im currently working on a growler of ramstein bock that's pretty good. Low on hops, 7% alcohol and pretty smooth. I'm also a big fan of Abita Turbo Dog and Magic Hat Vinyl. These wont fit your criteria though.

ive got a sixxer of that myself, its quite decent.

oh, and yuengling porter isnt at all bad. its not an amazing porter...but it also isnt ten bucks for a six pack. worth a try for anyone who sees it.
 
I had some North Coast PranQster that was pretty good. I'd recommend that if you're looking for something different. I've heard good things about their Brother Thelonious, too, but have yet to try it. I plan on grabbing some next time I'm near a Bevmo.

They are pretty strong, my girlfriend and I often split one. It makes for a good start to the evening before we go out. :biggrin:
