Anyone got any recommendations for a 12" subwoofer running at 2ohm, have an enclosure but can make another if needed, around $250 online (probably $300+ msrp). Audiophiles gogo, Im looking for something with good low end response 20-100hz and decent mid range 100-200hz, any graphical representation would be of great help.

I have a 600 watt peak, 300 rms amp at 2 ohm, 300/150 @4ohm. Installation is not a problem as I am able to do it on my own barring some weird setup.

I believe I have the exact same wattage amp as you (It's an Alpine something-or-other).

I currently have a 12" JL Audio sub in a sealed enclosure. It sounds very clean and can get loud if I want it to. If you like really loud, just put it in a ported enclosure.

Ditto! (except version 2, sealed box) I'm powering mine with an Alpine M501 550W RMS @ 2ohms and it gets ludicrous loud in my car!

Very cheap, cleanest sub for the buck, and JL quality. You can't go wrong!

EDIT: In case you aren't in the know, just be sure to get the dual 4-ohm version so you can drop it down to a 2-ohm load.

That would be the same one I have as mentioned above. DO IT!

Another good SQ sub brand is Diamond Audio. The quality and SQ is on par with JL but at half the price. Look at the D3 or D6 series.

I can't really think of a sub that requires only 300 watts that could cost that much. I would go with a Dayton or JL. But they aren't going to cost over $200, well maybe the JL at a dealer.

Not into car audio, but I always thought if put a sub system in my car it would be Audiobahn AWT12s or whatever their equivalent top of the line high current model is. Not very expensive (no car stuff seems expensive when you primarily play with home audio) but it would probably burn up your amp though.

OP, if you buy into Audiobahn, I will slap you silly!

Why are you even considering crossing over at 200Hz? Where are you going to put it?

How much space do you have for it?

Yes, 200 Hz is way too high of a crossover point for subs. Subs are design for low frequency bass, not midrange. 120 hz would be the highest I'll go. 100 hz to 200 hz should be handled by your door speakers which if you have quality ones will give you way better midrange response than from a sub at a high crossover point in the trunk.
