Alpine CDA9855

can't say i've used that one particularly, but never had anything but good experiences when dealing w/ alpine products...well except for the v-drive line, that just made the install for a head unit much more tedious🙂

what are you installing the unit to power? any amps, system, etc? let us know details and we can help a lil better🙂

Man I want to get this HU because it looks so sweet, but being relatively new and expensive, nobody has any first hand experience with it. Do any of you have any of the other alpines with glide touch interfaces?

bastard🙂

damn, that jbl looks like it has its own amp in that basket its so huge!
i wish i had a set of perfect components, they'd be way too nice, as it is i'll make due w/ my kappa comps🙂

It's a competition speaker I bought off a company sale for only $120 when it retails for over $900. I think I might be selling it, but I have no idea where I could put it up and get any decent return. Ebay doesn't show very profitable history for these types of speakers and not too many people are looking for something so powerful. I'm not looking for full price, more like half as much or even a little less. Never been used either. Just been sitting in my den for about 4 months now. :disgust:

How do the Kappa's sound compared to stock? I sat in a truck that had some Type R's in it and it sounded soooooooo crisp. I'm hoping the Kapps will be the same or better.

well that would depend on the stock you're referring to of course. the kappas were first in a 90 accord, which was light years different...suddenly there were parts in a song that i didn't hear previously, a note extended somewhere fading out in the background (refering to something more than just radio/pop tunes here)
the kappa's, and even more so, the perfects aren't going to be your loudest, they won't be the heaviest hitting on the bass, but they will produce something of the best imaging and detail you will get out of a reasonably priced speaker, and to me, that's much better than being loud or bassy. the tweets on the infinities are amazing as well, incredibly crips w/out being edgy. you'll definitely enjoy!
