My friend is selling all of his car audio stuff because he is realizing it is overkill. Anyway I need a cd-player and he is selling this one for less than half of retail price.

Will this be compatable with a 93 camry? I know it is overkill for my car, but he is selling it cheaper than any other mp3 deck I can get new. Are there any problems with Alpine? Will it last me a long time?

Thanks for helping a car audio noob.

awesome deck you can't go wrong with it :) I use to have the 9813 until someone broke into my car. let me tell you if you upgrade to some decent mids for your speaker it'll rock them! You can individually configure the bass/trebel with the head unit :) alpine always make the best deck!

Ok, cool I just wasn't sure if Alpine was a trusted name or not. I honestly have no idea what "upgrading to some decent mids for your speaker" means. If you could enlighten me that would be great.

I'll be buying some new speakers as well to increase the clarity of the music, but won't be buying an amp because I don't need someone a block away to listen to my music. Will this deck be enough to power 4 decent speakers?

alpine is a very top notch brand, the only reason i could think of why you shouldnt get it would be in this case irrelevant. but the reason would be that you could get something else that's cheap and decent, but since you said you can get this for half the retail price then go for it, just better get an alarm for your car if you're in a bad neighborhood.

Don't forget that the new 2005 Alpine models are coming out soon as well. They are available at Crutchfield for preorder. Check them out before you buy this one. They have some pretty slick new head units coming out. I really like the CDA-9855.

It'll be plenty to power 4 speakers :) The internal amp does 60x4 or individually does 27x4 watts :) It's good man dont worry this deck is awesome and it takes a while to fully get use to all the cool features like Time delay ect. upgrading your speakers is a good idea and what I meant by mids are speaker upgrades. Obviously every speaker does a spcific job.. let say if you were to run a sub with a box.. It would be best to run Hi's for just the front (very little bass) while the sub can handle all the bass. Mids are speakers are prety much your standard speakers that has mild bass and a clean sound.

I am in the suburbs so I don't think it will get stolen. But mabye at university. I'll just make sure to take the faceplate wherever I go. Or does it not matter if I take the faceplate? From my understanding a deck is worthless without the faceplate, but I might be wrong.

Thanks for your help guys.

The only reason I am considering this expensive of a deck is because my friend is giving me an unreal deal on it. Which makes it cheaper than almost every mp3 compatable cd player up here in Canada. (Might have something to do with those 2 computers I built him :D)
