Alpine CDA-7863 is badass

I installed my new Alpine CDA-7863 a few hours ago. It's awesome. I didn't think I'd like a head unit with motorized stuff, but it's badass. My system still needs lots of tweaking, but thus far I'm very impressed with the head unit. This is an upgrade from a Pioneer DEH-P5200 and it's way better than the Pioneer. People in the market for a head unit needs to consider the Alpine, it's sweet!

I got an Alpine 7861 to replace an older Alpine deck that got stolen, and personally, I think it is a piece of trash.

The sound quality is inferior in my opinion. What's with that BBE (or whatever) crap? It boosts the highs and lows waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.

I wish I had my old 7828. Not a lot of whiz-bang features, but GREAT sound.

Nah, I got it from Ubid. I paid 249 for it. I don't trust Circuit City as far as installation is concerned. Them and Best Buy pretty much suck. This time around, I installed everything. I also deadened the doors, trunk, and floor.

edit: Stuff like BBE type stuff are usually over rated. I turned that off, but I'm very pleased with everything else about the deck.

very sweet deal....... 249 for it... but ubid loves to give you a good rodgering when it comes to shipping... and since i live in hawaii, they love to flip me around and rodger me some more from the other side (forced fedex next day 22.99+10.00 "hawaii" surcharge + 5.00 for weighted shipping) 38 dollars shiping... talk about rape....

and the following week i saw it on sale for 299 at circuit city.... . boy.. i never drove so fast in my life... and installed it MYSELF.. and did it right...

I didn't know that it had a motorized face. When I first hit the eject button and flipped down, I was in awe. I think it'll make it hard to switch CD's while driving though. I'll have to only do that at red lights.
