This has actually been out for quite awhile but this is the first review I?ve seen.

Performance is very good but not the absolute best (anymore at least). The biggest draw will be the Alpha build quality and its form factor/fan configuration.

Yeah, considering it's fairly low profile nature the performance is pretty good, it actually edges out the Zalman 9500 in terms of both noise and temp.

It still weighs a ton however.

I'd like to say it's not bad, but 12C? That's sort of A LOT.

No Ninja or Infinitys or Tuniqs or any other popular coolers on their list either.

Looks exactly like the Alpha PAL I used on my old XP 2500. It's still working in my buddies rig, but it's neither quiet nor high performance.

The Ultra-120 is probably the best heatsink you can currently buy and puts a lot of heatsinks to shame but it's not perfect. Its size prohibitively large so it's not ideal for every situation. Like all tower heatinks it doesn't provide any cooling to motherboard components.

The Alpha is also at Newegg for about $44 with a high quality Sanyo Denki 4-pin PWM fan vs. $50+ for the Ulra-120 with no fan, considering that the Alpha is a good choice.
